Job Title: Commodity Manager-Manufacturing

City:Canton State: OHIO                                                  



This position’s purpose is to manage all sourcing activities associated with a set of specific products, commodities, and/or components. Creating and implementing sourcing strategies that provide a competitive advantage is vital to the success in the position. The outcome of implementing the sourcing strategies will be a supply base for the product/commodity set that is world class in the industry in terms of quality, cost, and delivery.


  • Manage the following commodities:  castings, stampings, machined parts, injection molding, brushless motors and electronics
  • Develop cost reduction strategies for each commodity and supplier
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing cost savings that drive EBITDA improvement; develop cost reduction strategies for each commodity and supplier
  • Evaluates and selects new suppliers; issues RFPs and negotiates contracts
  • Conducts VA / VE analysis and presents findings to management team
  • Supports new product introductions from Sales team
  • Manages supplier, facing issues related to cost, quality and delivery

*Will perform other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Certifications, Skills)

• Bachelor’s Degree; Master's Degree preferred
• 7-10 years of Procurement/Supply Chain experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Experience partnering with management, suppliers, and staff in a team based environment
• Strategic Thinker – short and long term strategies within category or product line, along with implementation and execution of those strategies.
• Self-motivated; ability to work both independently and as a team
• Strong communications skills (verbal and written)
• Energetic, positive, polished, unquestioned ethics, results oriented, and the ability to adapt with changes

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Certifications, Skills)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or similar field
  • Experience in Purchasing, preferably within the automotive sector
  • Ability to travel to Mexico; bilingual abilities preferred
  • Proven experience in supplier negotiations, including preparing and administering long-term agreements
  • Proven effectiveness in working in a global, multicultural environment
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate concisely at all levels inside and outside of the company
  • Strong ability to lead, communicate and act in a multicultural environment
  • Tough, sound negotiator
  • Action oriented with proven track record of achieving business goals
  • Team builder, motivator and team player
  • Strategic thinker; uses creative and innovative problem solving approach to achieve key success factors
